Behind the Design

"Gender traitor" was a term I learned very recently. It is how I would refer to the story of Medusa. The patriarchy is so engrained into the fabric of society that often times, women themselves can resist and reject the notions of feminism. Leading them to defend the men responsible for a system which pits women against one another and creates a false competition between them.

Medusa was a devoted priestess of Athena, bound by a vow of chastity, until she was raped by Poseidon in Athena’s temple. Instead of punishing Poseidon, Athena cursed Medusa, turning her hair into snakes and making her gaze deadly—transforming her into a monster for the crime committed against her. Her story is a brutal reflection of the reality millions of women face when they themselves are blamed for the assaults committed against them.

Wearing this ring is an act of defiance—a statement that survivors will not be shamed, silenced or blamed. She is a symbol of female rage, resilience, and the power of reclaiming your own narrative.
