Behind the Design

I am sick and tired of hearing men ask: “Why didn’t you say no?” Like it could ever be that simple. Like you don’t take our “no” as an invitation to pursue us harder. I am sick of seeing women feel the need to contort their bodies into clothes not designed for their organs, but instead designed for the male gaze. I am sick of seeing men and young boys becoming increasingly radicalised on the internet; typing out disturbing and violent comments on women’s videos about how they intend to r*pe, silence, torture and murder us. I am sick of seeing it bragged about and encouraged by male influencers and men in positions of power. I am sick of seeing our basic human rights discussed in boardrooms full of men.

"But it's not all men!" If men spent more time calling out their own for their behaviours, than trying to invalidate women’s lived experiences to clear their own egos, we might actually get somewhere. 

I particularly love the male figurine in this design, hanging by his ankles - a reckoning shift in power, a reminder that those who take without consent should feel the weight of their actions.
