Behind the Design

I very recently learnt the real story of Medusa, not the censored version often taught in schools. It was all too familiar to hear of a beautiful woman being objectified for her beauty, rap*ed at the hands of a man in power and, despite being the victim, blamed and persecuted. To make matters worse, she was blamed by fellow female, Athena. 

The centre of this piece features an engraved cylinder charm which reads: Objectified. Fetishised. Sexualised. Three words that define the way society sees women before it sees their humanity.
